Available soon, a 13-week series about Alternative Fuel Vehicles, Flipside Rides is ideal for the PBS audience. Flipside Rides will be a weekly, half-hour magazine-style TV show that will serve the purpose of entertaining, educating and informing the public about the overall category of alternative fuel vehicles (AFV’s). Alternative fuels covered will include plug-in electric, hybrid electric, hydrogen, diesel, bio-fuel, human-powered and more. Vehicles featured will include automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and just about anything that will transport a human in an environmentally friendly way. We will also cover mass transit alternatives, such as green buses, trains and boats.
Programs will feature several segments in each show highlighting the styling, mechanics, drive ability and uniqueness of different vehicles. Studies have shown that environmentally skewed programming has a younger demographic base with viewers believing they have a vested interest in reducing their carbon footprint. Our program will attempt to reach this base while also recruiting an older and possibly less eco-educated audience with special segments involving speed, miles-per-gallon saving techniques (also known as hypermile-ing,) and how-to projects.

Flipside Rides is produced by Dale Morris. Dale has over 10 years of acquired experience in production for public broadcasting stations. He conceived and produced "World of Collector Cars", which was carried for over 9 years on 150+ public broadcasting stations and syndicated to 11 countries, as well as “Making Waves”, which was produced for one season until underwriting funding was interrupted by the tragic events of September 11th.
Flipside Rides is produced independent of any outside company or venture. Editorial content is independent of any political or commercial input. Flipside Rides is made up of a consortium of automotive enthusiasts who believe we can educate the public about the use of alternative fuel vehicles by presenting what is currently available in a fun, creative manner. We’ve already got the younger generation behind us... we just need to convince the old school motor-heads they can have fun without destroying the planet.
The following crew is working to produce Flipside Rides:
Richard Gray – Graphics & Animation Director. Richard has 30 years of experience in animation and graphics working with many television stations around the country as well as some of the top name advertising agencies. He also directed and co-produced live broadcast productions for well known Las Vegas entertainer, Danny Marona.
Eric Johannsen - Chief Editor. Eric’s editing and oversight of all editors is greatly appreciated. His recent background includes editing shows such as “The Amazing Race”, “Big Brother”, “Hells Kitchen” and more. See a list of Eric Johannsen's Editor Credits on Hollywood.com.
Dale Morris – Co-producer. Dale produced “World of Collector Cars” from 1991 – 2000 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1213845/) and “Making Waves” in 2001. Dale then suffered a bout with cancer which he has successfully overcome and is back leading the charge in the automotive arena. First exposed to electric cars in 1995 Dale was skeptical at best but now after two years of alternative fuel vehicle exploration and marketing research the result has culminated in the advent of Flipside Rides.
Dr. Stewart Oakley – FSR Consultant. Professor of Environmental Engineering. Dr. Oakley is our chief advisor when it comes to sustainability. He has over 30 years of advanced environmental studies under his belt. He has written several books about sustainable land use and is in high demand as a consultant. He is also a valuable advisor to several South American governments as they are attempting to transform their countries, making them more sustainably responsible. Dr. Oakley is a member of Engineers without Borders and specializes in Engineering Ethics and Landfill Management.
Butte College – We are currently in discussion with several departments at Butte College in how we can work together. This may result in a co-production effort utilizing Butte faculty, students and equipment. Whether a working agreement is fashioned or not, we have the complete support of one of the country’s leading environmentally concerned colleges.
